Updated 5 May 2026, after the latest decision. The May statement cited inflation picking up materially in H2 2025, capacity pressures and Middle East fuel-price spillovers. The Board expects headline inflation to peak at 4.8% mid-2026 with underlying inflation above 3% until mid-2027.
* Indicative variable rate is the average headline rate offered by the Big 4 lenders for new owner-occupier P&I lending at 80% LVR. Your rate will vary based on lender, loan size, LVR and your borrowing position.
Three hikes in 2026 have reversed last year's cuts. Borrowing capacity is tightening and serviceability buffers are biting. We review your position after each RBA move so you act before the market repositions around you.
